What will happen to my instrument if it goes beyond its pressure rating?

Overpressure can occur in the instrument either by exceeding a sensor pressure rating or the pressure housing rating.

Depending on the sensor, overpressure can:

  • Damage the sensor/instrument itself
  • Go out of the pressure calibration range

There are safety factors built into the instruments; however, instruments should only be deployed to the maximum depth listed on the label.
