Applying firmware updates

Required tools
  • a blank, FAT32-formatted USB flash memory stick at least 512MB in size

Firmware updates for the data controller are delivered in the form of ZIP archives. To apply these updates, extract the archive into the root of an empty, FAT32-formatted USB storage device. The structure of all directories within the archive, including the top-level wirewalker directory should be retained. After uncompressing it, the contents of the USB stick should resemble this structure:

Some archive extraction programs, including Safari and the macOS Finder, may modify directory structures during decompression. If this happens, either recreate directories as necessary to match the structure depicted above or decompress the update with a utility that doesn't modify archive contents during extraction (e.g., 7-Zip on Windows or The Unarchiver on macOS).

As when retrieving data from the RBRcervello, connect the USB storage device to the USB port on the data controller. Light behaviour is the same as when retrieving data; see that page for details.
